Andrew Lehman’s mother grew up on a family farm, now run by his uncle and cousin, where they have raised thousands of nursery pigs, from 3-13 weeks old. It gave him a life-long love of animals and an experience in the pig industry that would serve him well in his career.
As the Assistant Transportation Manager for the Transervice CF Transport operation in Des Moines, Iowa, Andrew is responsible for managing the fleet maintenance and the transporting of hogs for Christensen Farms, one of the largest family-owned pork producers in the United States, The hogs are shipped from the company’s barn locations all over northern Iowa and Southern Minnesota to the Triumph Foods packing plant in St. Joseph, MO.
When he started with Transervice in 2017 as a driver, Andrew was one of only 7; today he manages some 32 drivers and the maintenance for a fleet of 16 trucks and 15 trailers.
Andrew began his career with Doll Distributing in Des Moines delivering beer. He was eventually promoted to a sales position where he serviced bars and restaurants. But when he came across an opportunity to join Transervice at its CF Transport start-up, he saw a lot of potential for advancement, given his family’s agricultural background. After five months as a driver he accepted an offer for an overnight dispatch administration position, working from 5:00 pm to 7:00 am for nearly three years
“I learned a lot and grew a lot in that position,” he remembers. “I did dispatching, payroll, some administration work, but mostly worked with the drivers to keep things moving. I wore many hats!”
He was finally promoted to day work in 2020 as Fleet and Safety Supervisor, just before COVID put a stop to the world. During this challenging time, Andrew continued to manage the equipment side of the business and was rewarded for his efforts with a promotion to Assistant Transportation Manager in August 2023. Today he is responsible for day-to-day operations, including administration duties, liaison with vendors and customers, and oversight of the fleet drivers and their safety.
“I’ve had a lot of opportunities for growth with Transervice, which is what drew me to the company initially,” said Andrew. Just recently he was asked to be a part of the startup team for two new divisions.
Andrew and his wife Patti live in Ames, IA where he enjoys spending time with family and friends and playing golf.
