Having trouble getting into a routine and falling in love with what you do?

We all want the same goal, that is to enjoy what we do, and get rewarded or receive recognition and appreciation for our hard work and accomplishments. At the same time, we want a balanced life for the things we really want to do with a full social life. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, many companies have gone completely remote for the time being. Whether you’re a first-time telecommuter struggling with productivity while working from home, or a manager trying to get your employees engaged, working from home may require you to change your routine, work styles, or even lifestyle. Whatever the reason may be as to why you’re finding difficulty falling into a routine and loving what you do, here are some tips to help.

  1. Be determined and motivated to face the day

Control any worries or stress you may have, don’t let them control you. Think about the person your job has made you become, and the opportunities your job creates for you. Starting off the day with a positive attitude will positively reflect on your mood, your attitude, and your productiveness.

2. You are more than your work

What makes work fun is knowing who we are and what we want to be in this world. What’s most important isn’t the way we do it, rather it’s the awareness of self. We often lose sight of our purpose in the business world, getting distracted by egos and deadlines. We often get caught up, forgetting our purpose. Self-awareness is key to remaining focused and on track. So, remember who you are, what you want, and what your goals are.

3. Work on time management and create a list of tasks for yourself

These lists can be created daily, weekly, or monthly. Do whatever you feel works best for you. If you have a lot going on one week, it may be easier to create a list daily, that way you can concentrate more on your time management and the individual tasks that need to be worked on each day. With this being said, make sure you concentrate on the task at hand. Don’t get distracted by all the things that need to get done. Stay in the moment.

4. Make sure you understand what’s expected of you

If you’re ever unsure about how to do something, what exactly you should be doing, when it should be done, etc., always ask! The more upfront you are with your coworkers and/or boss, the better it will be for you in the long run, and the more confident you will feel.

5. Have regular breaks throughout the day

Working non-stop all day every day can be tiring and draining. Not taking breaks with work will put a damper on your productivity, mental health, and performance. Breaks eliminate stress and can improve job satisfaction.

These tips will not only make you happier with your job, but also happier with yourself. It comes down to controlling your environment and not allowing your environment to control you. Remember your abilities as well as your weaknesses so your motivation doesn’t falter. Always face your fears head on instead of hiding from them so you can break through barriers that would initially hold you back.

When adding new things to a current routine or developing an entirely new one, it can be easy to return to old habits or ways of thinking. Regularly check in with yourself to make sure you’re getting done what you need to. Follow these tips and you will see how those routines can help you be the best version of yourself.
